DuPont™ Thermax™ (ci) Exterior Foam Insulation. DuPont™ Thermax™ (ci) Exterior Foam Insulation is a rigid board insulation consisting of a glass-fiber-reinforced polyisocyanurate foam core faced with nominal 1.25 mil embossed BLUE™ thermoset-coated aluminum on one side and 0.9 mil smooth, reflective aluminum on the other.
Key differences are R-value per inch, water resistance, compressive strength, permeability to water vapor, facings, and of course, cost. All foam insulation products are petroleum-derived. Rigid foam sheets are sold in several thicknesses; most lumberyards carry insulation ranging from 1/2 in. to 2 in. thick. Ignoring the benefits of the thermal mass, a 6-inch (15.24 cm) softwood log wall has a clear-wall (a wall without windows or doors) R-value of just over 8.
THERMAX TM Foamboard. THERMAX TM brand insulation is a polyisocyanurate rigid board insulation with an R-value of 6.5 per inch. This product has FM 4880 class 1 wall and ceiling approval for fire exposure and can be left exposed in both the wall and ceiling providing a nice aesthetically pleasing look to the interior as well as increasing energy efficiency.
R value of 30 per inch £ 60 per sqm Currently the most insulative material on earth. But also comes at a good price. However has zero structural integrity. Available in non-standard ie an size 300mm thickness on average Through development R values of 50 have been recorded, however most of this developed material is not commercially viable. A medium-density batt offers R-13 for the same space. High-density batts for a 2 by 6 inch (51 by 152 mm) frame wall offer R-21, and high-density batts for an 8.5-inch (216-mm) spaces yield about an R-30 value. R-38 batts for 12-inch (304-mm) spaces are also available. per CAN/ULC S770-03. The R-value at 180 day real-time age and 75ºF mean temperature is commonly used to compare products and is the value printed on the product. 5. Considering that plywood has an R-value of just 0.94, it would take a piece of plywood well over 2 inches thick to offer the same protection as a piece of fiberglass that is just 3/4 inch in width. Thus, walls would have to be excessively thick to offer fiberglass-level protection, which cuts into living space.
Celotex GA4000 specifications. Celotex GA4000 insulation boards are manufactured from polyisocyanurate, and have low emissivity foil facings to aid with reducing heat transfer. The R-value denotes the resistance to heat flow – the higher the R-value the more insulating the product is. *R = thickness – thermal conductivity (R = t ). R-Value is a measure of insulating ability. “R” means resistance to heat flow. The higher the R-Value, the greater insulation power. **VersaBoard® 35 minimum thickness is 1½”. ***VersaBoard® 80 is not available in a thickness of 6 ½” or 7”. k iimum 70% eccled Cotet High R-Value (2.9 R): Has more than two times the R-value of wood fiber and more than four times the R-value of gypsum boards. User Friendly: Allows easy and efficient scoring, cutting and snapping which permits fast, tight fabrication and all in a low dust environment.
